Bodybuilding Q & A

The following are answers to commonly asked questions with regard to bodybuilding and nutrition.

Q: What is the difference between a super set and a giant set?

A: In order to gain muscle fast, you want to incorporate both into your bodybuilding regime. The major difference is that in a giant set, you would perform a number of different exercises for one particular body part. In a super set,  you would perform a number of different exercises for two or more body parts (one after the other). For example, in a giant set, you might perform one set of flat barbell bench presses,  followed by a set of incline dumbbell press, right into push ups off the floor. Weight is usually moderate and there is little to no rest between each exercise. After one complete round, rest about two to three minutes then repeat two or three more times.
With the super set, weight is moderate to heavy with minimal rest between exercises.  For example,  perform incline dumbbell bench press then go right into seated cable rows.  Rest  anywhere from two- five minutes between rounds. As with the giant set, perform 3-4 total rounds.

Q: Do you know any good fat burning foods or supplements?

A: Absolutely.  To really cause changes to your muscles and your waistline, you should incorporate what are called “Energy Foods.” These foods are the best in their class for improving health, fitness and muscle mass. What isn’t absorbed from these foods, to repair muscle and other functions is burned for energy. Some of the foods on this list include: Sprouted bread, steel cut oatmeal, kale, wild blueberries, Greek yogurt, black coffee, lean cut meats (turkey, chicken, etc…) egg whites and canned sardines. For those of you who just can’t stomach the idea of consuming sardines, salmon is a close second. Also, many condiments are great to use when trying to lose body fat. For seasonings, Mrs. Dash, real lemons and limes, top the list.  For salads, vinegar or lemon juice dressings are ideal. To cause a thermogenic effect in the body (creating heat and increasing fat burning during digestion) certain seasonings and spices should be added to as many of your daily meals as possible. Regular or spicy mustard, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, black pepper, cumin, horseradish or wasabi, chilies, chutney, garlic, ginger, onions and hot salsa are perfect to help burn extra calories. Lastly, a good fat loss supplement can rev you up and dramatically increase your results. Thermo ES is the most effective supplement to take in your quest for reducing body fat.
